The examples we considered above start with the words “two dice were rolled” or “three cards were drawn”. Essentially, these words explicitly define the probability space. However, in problems and applications, the probability space is often defined implicitly, for example, by some process. In this section, we will consider a standard way of visualizing such a process, which often helps to determine both the probability space and the outcome probabilities.
